The Sun Sets on the Swiss ————- BMW Oracle wins America’s Cup 33 ——– Brings the Cup back to the Golden Gate Yacht Club in the USA –Feb. 14, 2010 —- www.challengeandadventure.com

I really hope they go back to a more strict design so that it is the strategy and crews that determine the winner, not the design.
Where can I watch a replay of the entire races online?
Sorry – I did not accuse anyone of cheating, I merely asked the question. The Aussies beat the US in ’83 with superior design technology. That act brought forth the keel unveiling protocol to make things more fair. I am not saying Alinghi hasn’t been fair either. They ran a wonderful cup campaign for 10 years – the very best. They failed to answer a rogue challenge (allowed under the deed of gift) successfully. Did USA “cheat” by making Alinghi catch penalties like flies?
division. It is interesting that you like other Americans accuse countries like Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland of cheating. We know who the real cheats are. The Swiss tried to open up the event, make it truly international. Americans don’t care how they win. as long as they win. All these ideas of the American courts like catamarans and trimarans etc. have nothing to do with the spirit of these event.
Give the courts of NY (who have legal jurisdiction over the Deed of Gift) some credit, but I am sure they had nothing to do with the superior technology and skill of the folks on the west coast who created the dynamic wing sail. Shall we also cry about the Aussies who “cheated” with their winged keel in 1983? And exactly who was cheating in 1988 when the Kiwi’s came up with a rogue challenge super yacht that failed to a winged catamaran? Alinghi’s weakness was her penatly-catching skipper.
division. The Americans cheated by engineering it through American courts. No non American will ever win the Americas’ Cup from now on. The American courts will see to that.
Says the Swiss team who illegally used American sails on their “Swiss boat” and then committed mutiny on the race committee boat by refusing to start Race 2 as commanded by the race officer. Don’t worry, the SNG yacht club will be found in breach of their obligations as trustee, followed by sanctions from ISAF. This race was Team Alinghi’s swan song.
Enlighten us please – where is the cheating here?
Is it the lawsuit?
Was it the “wing”?
Or is it just that Alinghi came to the dance with the wrong dress. Let’s remember that they caught a very unusual penalty in both starts – something odd for a team with such perfection in the past.
Is that Ernesto’s helm skills at question there?
This leaves a bad taste in anyone’s mouth. The Americans cannot win anything fairly, it seems. I think the America’s Cup is no longer a prestige race. The Swiss beat New Zealand honourably. No wonder people can stand Americans.
Glad it’s back but I’ll bet they don’t race on S.F. Bay where they should. Go ahead Larry.. take it to New Zealand and race there instead of the Bay.
Thanks

I guess you’re doomed to self-loathing then…
You’re delusional…
How honorable is it to beat a team by offering mega millions to poach their five key sailors and design secrets.
Ernie bought the best team from a foreign country (NZ) and their designs, thereby also knocking out their top competition.
I guess that may be honorable in Switzerland where the number one industry is facilitating tax evasion and money laundering.
In the rest of the world, it’s a dog act.
Go back to school newbie…
Ernie cheated every step of the way to get the cup, then, like the spoiled brat he is, he severely bent the rules to try to keep it.
All Ellison did was try to enforce the right to an even playing field, good on him. I’m not American, I just hate cheats.
Hopefully ISAF will ban SNG from competing in future, due to their unprecedented cheating before the third race.
Boo Hoo Ernie. Your own arrogance and ignorance finally overcame you.
Good Riddence!

I hope it is in SF. That is a beautiful city and venue.
