It’s interesting to see this version of the trimaran with the foils, coffee grinders and the center dagger board. I doubt if Larry and Russell left her in this configuration that they’d win the Cup. Alinghi showed them her heals on that upwind leg, but had no chance against the wing nuts on anything off the wind – which is what everyone was concerned about. Go figure and WAY TO GO LARRY AND CREW!!!!!!
Make San Francisco the next venue – way better wind there than Newport.

I would love oracle to win but I’m afraid that Tri looks far too heavy and the hull flexes too much. The cat is going to be too fast I think..
I was sailing in a 420 regatta today in san diego and saw this beauty of a boat with the wing up. it was blowing 10knts and a coachboat tryed to catch it with its 50 horsepower and couldnt. boat was going about 25knts hahahaha crazy what sailing has become.
The BOR needs to get enough wind to get its central hull out of the water. Alinghi, on its catamaran, needs much less wind to get up to speed.
This explains Alinghi’s intention to bring the race to a site where the wind is constantly calm. The truth is, Alinghi built a faster boat and Oracle does everything in its power to diminish that gap. Sorry to say but, national pride aside, Oracle is not playing by the rules here…
my guess is oracle saw the catamaran bow of alinghi was shaped with the new wavebreaker shape and they adopted that shape. What’s wrong with a little spying between friends.

Excellent video. Are there two BMW Oracle 90-ft tris? This one has very pointed bows on the pontoons, the other I’ve seen has almost vertical wedge-shaped bows, similar to the main hull.
